ミッドセンチュリー Order of Servants of Mary ガラスボウル

Order of Servants of Maryは悲しみの聖母、というカソリックの宗派のひとつ。その歴史は1200年頃からと非常に古く、もともとはイタリアが発祥の地だといわれています。このボウルは同宗派のオレゴン州ポートランド支部が作ったものです。

全体的にしっかりと艶があり、ヒビ、かけ、われ、チップ、ざらつき、また特に気になるような劣化もありませんが、テーブルとの接触部分にはスクラッチやこすれ痕が見られます。また保管時にできたと思われるマイナーなスクラッチやプリントロスなどは光の加減で発見できかもしれません。但し、特筆すべき劣化があれば、お写真でもご覧頂けます。

このような厚さ3ミリ程度の、主に黒っぽいガラスにプリントを施していたのがHouze Art社ですが、刻印はないものの、こちらの商品もHouze Art社のものだと思われます。Houze Artは1960年代から70年代に、ガラス製の商品にペイントやプリントを施していた会社で、素敵な作品がたくさんあります。また、時折ミルクグラスのマグにも（特にステンドグラス系のデザインのもの）同社がプリントを施したものが存在します。
